  TRACING AND MESSAGES

Wars, civil disturbances and natural disasters bring great confusion and suffering. In the midst of such trying circumstances, individuals seek the love and support of their family members. However, armed conflict and emergencies are often barriers, separating loved ones when they need each other the most. In order to allievate some of the anguish of those who must endure unbelievably harsh conditions, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Red Cross network, including the Southern Nevada Chapter, work to help families reconnect.

To begin the search for a loved one, please carefully review the information below and then call the Southern Nevada Chapter, the critical link in your community to the vast network of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Tracing Cases that the American Red Cross International Family Tracing Services Accepts:

  • Families have been separated as a result of either armed conflict or disaster.
  • As much as possible, families have tried normal channels of communication before requesting Red Cross tracing services.
  • The family member making the inquiry provides essential information regarding the sought person.
  • The family member making the inquiry is a close family relative who was in direct contact with the person to be traced before the conflict or disaster occurred.

Holocaust-Related Tracing Services

In addition to tracing services for recent and present-day family separations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Red Cross network, including the Southern Nevada Chapter, accept tracing requests concerning European civilians separated from their families due to the holocaust of World War II.

The person making the tracing request must be ready to give the following information:

  • Your full name and address
  • Your relationship to the person sought
  • The reason for loss of contact

The person making the tracing request also must provide the following information about the person being sought:

  • Full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Nationality
